Queer Theory in Schools
A brief letter outlining concerns in response to an enquiry from a journalism student.
Every parent understands that there are two sexes and that one’s sex is not a social construct “assigned at birth”. Over recent years, activists, mainly men with a deep desire to be ‘validated’ as the opposite sex, have taken the word gender (once a polite synonym for sex) and turned it into a religion.
These activists have, through their wealth and influence, and through their intimidation tactics, succeeded in getting their new religion embedded into most of society.
The government’s own education guidance states that schools must “Pupils should be taught the facts and the law about sex, sexuality, sexual health and gender identity”. However, there is no consensus around what ‘facts’ pertain to ‘gender identity’ and there is no law, at all.
Outside bodies, with the political aim of ‘validating’ the identities of those convinced they are the opposite sex to reality, have exploited this void, where there are no facts they promote their opinions as fact e.g. “some people are born in the wrong body”.
Parents should be most alarmed at these groups seeking to influence education. There are children vulnerable to taking on the idea that they might be ‘transgender’, they will ruminate upon that idea and convince themselves that they need medical intervention to imitate the opposite sex. This is clearly dangerous. Moreover, these groups seek to undermine other boundaries, particularly when it comes to children’s attitudes to sex. Whether these pressure groups contain paedophiles or whether they just believe that “minor attracted persons” are just another letter that needs adding to the alphabetti-spaghetti beyond LGB, is not for me to say. Nevertheless, parents have a right to be concerned. A parent’s job is to protect their child from bad ideas that can put them in harm’s way. Schools have a safeguarding duty, too; but in the rush to be trendy, diverse, and inclusive, they have forgotten their duty of care.
Parents now have the opportunity to blow the whistle, to name and shame schools that are dangerous or harmful in their policies and actions. https://offred.org/submit-evidence
